New agreements 1 - Nahar al-Shabab newspaper supplement, the European Union, and the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Development (OMSAD). Launch of the “Young Journalists for Interfaith Dialogue” project, to promote inter-group dialogue; encourage various types of Lebanese young people to exchange their ideas and opinions about religion; create a permanent forum for young people to engage in dialogue about religion; create a group of journalists who can gain expertise, write a documentary item, present reports, and improve their knowledge and skills in the field of journalism, leading to a change in society. 2 - St. Joseph’s University, North Lebanon. Academic cooperation under the Safadi Foundation Grant, which aims at strengthening joint work in order to support university students and help them in their studies. 3 - Balamand University – North Lebanon. Environmental cooperation agreement, as part of maritime resources and coastal management program. 4 - Signature of a cooperative agreement between "Safadi Foundation" and Northern Cooperative Association for Fishermen: Safadi Foundation and the Northern Cooperative Association for Fishermen have signed a cooperative agreement in order to implement the project of creating the Mina's market fish. This project covers the Mina's area and the North and aims at creating permanent job opportunities for a minimum of 14 persons and daily work opportunities for a minimum of 10 persons, and will be affiliated with the National Fund for Social Security. 5 - Signature of a cooperative agreement between "Safadi Foundation" and the Association of the House of Arts: Safadi Foundation and the Association of the House of Arts have signed the project of "Mina's center for communication and permanent training for tourist’s guides ".This project covers the Mina's area and aims at creating an effective medium; enhancing societies circumstances; sharing with the civil society and finding resources for improving the living standards. 6 - Signature of a cooperative agreement between "Safadi Foundation" and "FISTA" Association: Safadi Foundation and "FISTA" association have signed a cooperative agreement with the support of Tripoli municipality in order to implement” Our Youth Center" project. This center is responsible of protecting the youth from the danger of depravation in Souayki's area which is considered among the poor areas and the most exposed to this kind of problems. 7 - Signature of a cooperative agreement between "Safadi Foundation" and the Association Committee for Environmental Protection: Safadi Foundation and the” Association Committee for Environmental Protection" have signed a cooperative agreement in order to implement the project of "El Mina's island for maritime environment" in collaboration with El Mina's municipality. This project covers El Mina's area and intends to establish a garden that permits the residents of the area to use Cow Island for entertaining, touristic, maritime and environmental purposes. 8 - Signature of a cooperative agreement between "Safadi Foundation" and young Men's Christian association YMCA: Safadi Foundation and the YMCA have signed a cooperative agreement in order to establish a training session for baby sitters during 2 months. Volunteer women from the local area to participate in the session. Note that this session employs the most recent audiovisual machines necessary for the training. This project lies within the scope of the Academic status of women's project carried out by "Safadi Foundation" in Dahr-Al-Moghr-Tripoli and financed by the British Embassy. 9 - A Cooperation Protocol Signed by The Safadi Foundation and The Doctors' Syndicate in the North The Safadi Foundation represented by its director Mrs. Mona Safadi and the Doctors’ Syndicate in the North represented by its president Dr Ghassan Raed signed a cooperation protocol to provide the syndicate center in Tripoli with qualified informatics systems and to improve the computers. On going agreements 1 - The Environmental Protection Committee Association and the Council for Development and Reconstruction, in cooperation with the Municipality of El Mina. The El Mina Island Maritime Environment Project, which covers the region of El Mina and will build a garden so that area residents can take advantage of Baqr Island for entertainment and maritime and environmental tourism. The project also aims at improving socio-economic conditions for area residents. 2 - FISTA, the Council for Development and Reconstruction, with support from the Municipality of Tripoli. The “Our Youth” Center project, aimed at protecting young people from anti-social behavior, in Suweiqa, one of the poorest areas and most susceptible to these types of problems. A work team enjoying various specializations allows the Center to provide on-going monitoring of the basic needs of young people, and follow up, support and treat young people. 3 - Beit al-Fann Association and the Council for Development and Reconstruction. “The El Mina Tourism Training Center,” which covers El Mina and will establish an effective cadre; improve conditions and communities; involve civil society; and create resources for improving the standard of living. 4 - North Lebanon Fishermen’s Cooperative Association, and the Council for Development and Reconstruction. El Mina Fish Market project, which covers El Mina and North Lebanon, and aims at creating stable work opportunities for at least 14 people and seasonal work for at least 10 people; seeing them join the National Social Security fund, and holding accompanying training courses. 5 - National Conservatory of Music. The protocol stipulates cooperation to support music in Lebanon, and particularly Tripoli, through activities with professors and students at the National Conservatory; develop the cultural scene in Tripoli by enhancing musical performances and supporting the artistic capacities of young people; and carry out musical activities at the Safadi Culture and Sports Center. 6 - Agricultural Scientific Research Department – Abdeh. Cooperation on matters connected to developing agriculture in various fields in North Lebanon, in the plant and animal sectors. 7 - UNDP, CDR and United Cooperatives Association. Cooperation in developing the agricultural sector and cooperatives in al-Jouma, Akkar, through: -setting up four monitors to measure temperature and humidity, in the towns of Akkar al-Atiqa, Bzibina and Rahba, in addition to 64 insect traps; and -providing agricultural extension services to combat diseases and pests in concerned towns, and helping improve the quality of agricultural production and reduce production costs. 8 - UNDP, CDR and Fneidek Municipality. Cooperation in developing the agricultural sector and cooperatives in Fneidek - Akkar, through: -setting up four monitors to measure temperature and humidity, in the towns of Fneidek; and -providing agricultural extension services to combat diseases and pests in Fneidek, and helping improve the quality of agricultural production and reduce production costs. 9 – A cooperation agreement signed by Safadi Foundation and the administration of scientific agricultural researches The administration of scientific agricultural researches represented by the general director Michel Efram signed with the Safadi Foundation represented by the general coordinator Riad Almeddine a cooperation agreement to improve animal and plant agricultural sectors in North Lebanon and that is the central administration researches in Abdeh-Akkar. 10 – A Cooperative agreement between Safadi foundation and the National Conservatory On the fifth of June 2006, Mona Safadi, the president of Safadi Foundation, and Dr. Walid Ghilmieh, the president of the National Conservatory, signed a cooperative agreement, which took place in the Cultural-Sporting Club. The partners agreed on mutual cooperation, in order to fulfill the common purposes and goals, specially the culture and the musical ones that occur in Lebanon, and mainly in Tripoli. 11 – Cooperation Agreement between Safadi Foundation and NDU University This agreement ascribes the beginning of cooperation between the scientific academic institutions in Lebanon and abroad. It also ascribes the cooperation in the field of books and scientific news used as references and resources in both NDU and Safadi Foundation libraries helping students, researchers, and the community. The Safadi Foundation serves NDU students in their majors with all kinds of support, and gives them free training hours in the fields of improving the development work. 12 – Two cooperation agreements with Balamand University: The first one is to coordinate with the university concerning grants and scholarships. The second is for the university TO offer their expertise in order to construct a library, in Safadi Cultural and Sports Center. 13 – Cooperation agreement with Skoun foundation: This agreement is to unify the efforts of both foundations to help teenagers stop the abuse drugs, alcohol and tobacco. It includes trial stage to inhance vocational skills for teenagers encourage and to start a pilot program to encourage positive behavior among students of nine public schools in Lebanon. 14. Cooperation agreement with Al Jinan University The agreement entails from Safadi Foundation to assist al Jinan University in establishing a modern library. 15. Cooperation agreement with Tripoli Municipality The agreement requires from Safadi Foundation to provide training to municipal staff on computer use and English language skills. Completed agreements 1 – Cooperation agreement Tripoli Cultural Center: Its purpose is to evolve the library in general, and to renew its contents. 2 – Cooperation agreement with Bait El Zakat-Hanan Hospital: Donate an Ecograph. 3. Cooperation agreement Fista Association The Safadi Foundation is partnering with Fista Association in order to form a team of trainers specialized in the social and psychotherapy fields. 4. Cooperation agreement with the Disabled Forum of Northern Lebanon (Muntada Al Muaakeen) As part of its support to the disabled, the Safadi Foundation is providing a disabled accessible car that responds to the need of the Disabled Forum. 5. Cooperation agreement with the Cultural Forum “Al Rabita Al Thakafiyah” The aim of this agreement is to promote cultural activities in Northern Lebanon. 6. Cooperation agreement with Gibran’s Touristic and Educational Committee The aim of this agreement was to contribute to the upgrading of Gibran Khalil Jibran Museum in order to make it a distinguishing tourisitic and educational center. 7. Cooperation agreement with the North Lebanon Bar Association The agreement entailed the set up of an IT center at the association headquarter. It consisted of 20 computers and related equipment in addition to delivering computer and internet training to 120 lawyers.
