The Safadi
Foundation believes in the principle of partnership, and the critical
role it can play in promoting and improving development work. In this
context, the Foundation has signed cooperation agreements with a
number of government institutions and international organizations,
such as:
The cooperation agreement with the Economic and Social Commission for
Western Asia (ESCWA)
|
The goals
of the first cooperation agreement with ESCWA include:
•
Identifying and prioritizing development activities for North Lebanon
in particular and Lebanon in general;
•
Specifying development activities with joint concern with the rest of
the ESCWA region;

UN ESCWA's executive secretary and the president of the foundation
sign the agreement |

Producing detailed work plans to complete projects of joint concern;
and
• Exchange
of expertise.
The second
cooperation agreement signed with ESCWA calls for the organizing of a
national conference for the development of North Lebanon during
2004-2005.

in particular and Lebanon in general;

Specifying development activities with joint concern with the rest of
the ESCWA region;

The British Ambassador and the President of the Foundation during
the ceremony to launch the program of support for livestock owners
in North Lebanon |
Under
this agreement, the Foundation has obtained funding from the British
Embassy to carry out artificial insemination campaigns for cows in
North Lebanon, along with a number of educational seminars directed at
livestock owners, scheduled to begin in 2004.

Cooperation agreement with the French Cultural Mission
The goal
of this agreement is to prepare French-language training sessions for
students in public high schools and the Lebanese University. The
courses entail 40 hours of instruction, and classes meet for four
hours twice a week.

Cooperation agreement with UNESCO

Specifying development activities with joint concern with the rest of
the ESCWA region;
This
agreement is part of the project "Bridging the Digital Divide" carried
out by UNESCO in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

With the President of the French Cultural Center |
It aims
to improve the use of information technology in public schools. As
part of this program, the Safadi Foundation determines needy public
schools in North Lebanon, refurbishes computer equipment, and
distributes it to selected public schools. The Foundation will carry
out further training courses for instructors of information technology
in order to ensure the proper use of the equipment in schools.

Cooperation agreement with the Goethe Institute
|
This
agreement involves establishing a center for the German Dialogue Forum
in Tripoli. The Forum's mission is to disseminate information about
Germany in the Middle East, and make books, publications and
audiovisual materials available to the public.
