The Foundation considers the protection and development of the environment as an important strategy in safeguarding one of Lebanon's most important resources, and sources of tourism. In order to ensure the sustainability of Lebanon's environment, a national environmental plan is urgently required.

Goals

Our goals in this sector include:

Raising environmental awareness in society at large, and in schools in particular;

Strengthening the capacity of civil society and individuals, and enabling them play an effective role in protecting the environment;

Partnering with environmental organizations, and providing them with the needed  support to achieve common goals; and

Coordinating and cooperating with governmental, regional and international organizations tasked with environmental protection.

2. National campaign to preserve natural sites

The Safadi Foundation, working in cooperation with various environmental associations, has helped launch a national campaign to preserve natural sites in Hermel, Qammoua, and Ras al-Shaqaa, through printing posters and distributing them to various institutions and stakeholders.

3. Environmental education

The Foundation organized a comprehensive, six-month training program on "establishing health and environmental clubs in schools." Twenty-four teachers from public and private schools took part in the program, which assisted the concerned schools set up clubs as a means of incorporating and emphasizing environmental concepts within their educational mission.
