Guiding Principles

The Foundation views Information and Communication Technology as a means to developing the capacities of individuals and groups, especially in remote and rural areas that lack both job opportunities and the ability to connect with the outside world.

Goals

Informing the general public about the use of IT, and the opportunity it provides;

Strengthening the skills and technical expertise needed to empower communities, enabling them to obtain information and boost their level of knowledge; and

Encouraging communities to use IT to open new horizons for learning and for work.

Programs & Activities

1. Eradicating IT Illiteracy

The Safadi Foundation has been carrying out, since 2000, a training program on the use of computers and the internet, based on a 10-week curriculum of 3 hours a week of instruction. To ensure that the program reaches the widest possible number of beneficiaries in all regions, the Foundation has established 3 types of training centers:

Sixteen fixed training centers

Summer training centers

Mobile training center

The computer-training program targets the community at large as well specific groups such as: municipalities, unions, NGOs etc.
