The Continuing Education Program at the Lebanese American University

On April 14, 2011, the Safadi Foundation signed an agreement with the CEP at LAU (the Continuing Education Program at the Lebanese American University) that reflects their collective effort to play a pioneering and positive role in the development of the workforce for the North Lebanon community.  The CEP Program will be the first of its kind in the region and a step towards achieving the foundation’s objective of developing human capabilities and building professional on the job skills.

The Youth Leadership School

“Youth Teach Youth” a collaboration effort between Safadi Foundation and the Lebanese American University

The Lebanese American University in partnership with Safadi launches the Youth Leadership School program: “Youth Teach Youth”. A press conference was held in presence of Dr. Elie Samia, the executive director of outreach and civic engagement at the LAU and Mr. Riad Alameddine, the general manager at Safadi Foundation. Trainers and staff members from both sides were present as well. This project falls under the MOU signed between the Lebanese American university and Safadi Foundation.

Women’s Media in the Euromed

A new  Project implemented by IRIS – Italy in partnership with Safadi Foundation – Lebanon, GRAIF – France, FWE – Malta and Association Aîni Bennaî Editions – Morrocco

Safadi Foundation has recently signed a partnership agreement with IRIS Provincia di Pescara – Italy, Groupement interrégional pour l’Action et l’Information des Femmes (GRAIF) – France, Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE)- Malta and Association Aîni Bennaî Editions – Morrocco, for the implementation of Women’s Media in the Euromed project which aims at empowering young women through enhanced access to ICT skills, namely for audiovisual and visual production, and, through directly involving females in the media sector, and raising public awareness.

“Entertainment opportunities for working children in Tripoli”

A new project for Safadi foundation funded by the International Labour Organization - International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC)

Safadi Foundation has launched a new project in the old neighborhoods of Tripoli with a fund from the International Labor Organization (ILO) within the International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC). The project aims at providing entertainment opportunities for working children in Swayka and Dahr El Mogher areas.

“Stairs of Solidarity”:

A new project implemented in Tripoli by Safadi Foundation and funded by the Embassy of Italy in Lebanon

Aiming at activating citizenship, enhancing the sense of belonging and promoting the culture of democratic participation of the inhabitants

Under the slogan “ In each step changed, we activate change”, Safadi Foundation launched a new project in Namleh area- Tripoli, funded by the Development Cooperation Office of the Italian Embassy in Beirut, in cooperation with the Municipality of Tripoli. The Foundation recently celebrated the completion of the Stairs of Change project with the above mentioned partners in Dahr El Mogher Area in Tripoli. The project successfully responded to the needs of the residents who played a significant role in its implementation.

“Promoting Women Entrepreneurship” funded by “Middle East Partnership Initiatives-MEPI” in Dahr El-Mogher region

Safadi Foundation has initiated “Promoting Women Entrepreneurship” project in Dahr El-Mogher area through a fund from “Middle East Partnership Initiatives-MEPI” in Lebanon, aiming at strengthening the role of women economically and to training them to play an active on the social, legal and political level.

Project "Stairs of Change":  In each step we change, we also change

This project is funded by the Italian Cooperation Office of the Embassy of Italy in Beirut. The project aims at fostering a culture of peace and conflict prevention, activating citizenship and strengthening the sense of belonging in the community through the rehabilitation of the stairs of Dahr El Mogher. These stairs are the only link between the two communities of Kobbeh and Souwayka, and with all the parties to the city of Tripoli, through:

- Building and enhancing the capacities of youth to become active and responsible citizens

- Strengthening the sense of belonging of the citizens to their old neighborhoods

- Preventing youth from delinquency

The project duration is one year, and is implemented in coordination with the Municipality of Tripoli

"The Mother and Child Health Protection Center" Project - Orange Nassau Hospital

This is a joint project based in the hospital, under the supervision, implementation, and common coordination between "Safadi Foundation" and “Orange Nassau Hospital”. The center aims at improving the quality of health community services through prevention awareness, early detection of diseases, and coping with all the diseases that are not easily overcome. It aims also toward developing the concept of Preventive Health Programs and ensuring the availability of the necessary and required social and psychological services that contribute to the success of the medical treatment process. It also aims at providing the required and basic health knowledge for pregnant women and mothers of newborns on safe and proper infant care. The “follow up process” is also considered as one of the main goals for the project which would be achieved through linking the beneficiaries with the available social services within the city and other areas.

“Afkar 2”: Project Funded by the European Union

Commonly implemented by the Safadi Foundation and Nahar Al Shabab

For the Consolidation of the Dialogue between Religions.

At the event of launching the second phase of the “Afkar 2” program, the EU has given its approval for the funding of the common project, undertaken by the Safadi Foundation and Nahar El Shabab, which aims at reinforcing the dialogue between the different social groups in Lebanon, entitled “Young Journalists Activists to Promote Dialogue between Religions”.

The Agricultural Extension Project in Fneideq

Microclimate weather stations project with the United Cooperative in Al-Joumeh-Akkar

This project is implemented within the framework of the cooperative between the Safadi Foundation, the socio-economic Development Program for Akkar (a program of the UNDP and the Council for Development and Reconstruction CDR) and the United Cooperative in Al-Joumeh-Akkar which includes the agricultural cooperatives representing different villages of Akkar: Akkar Al-Attiqah, Bezbina and Rahbeh.

Project for empowering the Women of Deir Dalloum

The Safadi Foundation conducted a field survey study to assess the socio-economic status of women in Deir Dalloum. The study showed that, the women of  Deir Dalloum, who represent a population living in deep poverty, experience minimal participation in any form of socio-economic activity. This can be attributed to low levels of education accompanied with little to no knowledge of their personal and legal rights. Their awareness in terms of their own personal development is especially lacking in the issues of gender and the role of the woman in the family and society.

“Our Neighborhood” (Haretna) Project

In order to restore the impoverished neighborhoods in Tripoli and to improve the situation by adopting volunteerism as a basis; Haretna project is seeking to develop human capacities in cooperation with the local society.  This project exposes poverty, unemployment and illiteracy, which threaten its cultural heritage.

The Project of El-Mina's market for fish.

The Safadi Foundation and the Northern Fisherman’s Cooperatives Association signed a cooperative agreement with the Council of Development and Reconstruction to implement the project of establishing a fish market in El Mina with the financing of the World Bank. This project will involve the area of El Mina as well as north Lebanon.

The Safadi Foundation and the organization Beit El-Fann (“house of arts”) have signed a cooperation agreement with the Council for Development and Reconstruction to implement the project of "El-Mina's Tourism Training and Interaction Center”, which will be financed by the World Bank.

A training Program for teaching the English language
