Project for empowering the
Women of Deir Dalloum
The Safadi
Foundation conducted a field survey study to assess the
socio-economic status of women in Deir Dalloum. The study showed
that, the women of
Deir Dalloum, who represent a population living in deep
poverty, experience minimal participation in any form of
socio-economic activity. This can be attributed to low levels of
education accompanied with little to no knowledge of their
personal and legal rights. Their awareness in terms of their own
personal development is especially lacking in the issues of gender
and the role of the woman in the family and society.
