Guiding Principles
The social
development sector at Safadi Foundation applies the intervention
method (place, education, social structure, environment, economy…)
concerning the children, youth, and women, depending on the
voluntarism and the partnership principles with the civil societies
and principles.
Goals
Improving living standards.
Helping citizens in order to improve society’s circumstances.
Changing women's conditions (economically and socially) and
increasing awareness of women conditions in society.
Supporting children’s rights and trying to develop their
capacities
Enhancing the coordination and the partnership with the other
organizations and the civil society.
Activating the citizenship of youth and promoting their belonging
to their societies through enhancing voluntary work.
Supporting civil institutions and municipalities.
Programs and Projects
Within the
framework of the sector’s strategy, which aims at restoring, the
impoverished neighborhoods in Tripoli and improving the situation; the
social development sector adopted the voluntarism as a basis to
develop the capacities of the youth.
This
strategy was implemented through many projects: Haretna center, the
women's academy and the youth center.
1-“Haretna center” -Our Neighborhood:
Haretna
project is seeking to restore the impoverished neighborhoods in
Tripoli in participation with the local society by developing the
human capacities:
This
project is based on 5 objectives:
Promoting citizens ownership of their old neighborhoods
Developing children’s capacities on educational, cultural and social
standards.
Activating the participation of women
Developing youth citizenship through voluntary work
Cooperating with local societies organizations.
2-Women's academy project:
Women's
academy project is financed by The Foreign Commonwealth Office in
Beirut to promote the participation of women through vocational
training to develop their personal skills and to activate their
initiatives in order to improve their community.
The
project aims at:
Developing administrative and personal women's capacities and skills
Changing women conditions (economically) through vocational training
Activating their roles and their participation through the
establishment of local committees.
Women's
academy project concerns women in the impoverished areas of Tripoli
from Al-Terbiaa to Al-Kobbe area, which is exposed to poor social and
economic conditions.
3-“Our Youth Center”- Shababouna:
In August
2006 and with the support of the Council for Development and
Construction and the financing of the World Bank in cooperation with
FISTA Association and Tripoli municipality, our youth center was
founded with the objective of protecting youth from the threats of
poor social conditions in Tripoli through:
Developing intellectual, educational and cultural youth capacities and
skills.
Consolidating the awareness of local society concerning youth
depravation and launching preventative programs.
Cooperating with local society.
Our youth
center is located in Souaiki's area, which is considered among the
poorest areas and the most exposed problems such as: poverty,
unemployment and illiteracy.
This
center will offer, support, and deal with youth who are exposed to
corruption.
Second-Social studies and research
Social
studies and research are considered as basics in social development
work. The foundation is carrying out research aiming at defining the
problems, which concern the impoverished societies, and suggesting
developmental programs for enhancing society's circumstances and
finding resources for improving the living standards.
